Cruise Ship Shore Excursions from the Port of Tauranga
The best "Small Group Tour" available in the Bay.
"Highly recommended on Cruise Critic and rated Excellent on Trip Advisor"
For only NZ$180.00 Archer Tours can help with your shore excursion when your ship calls at the Port of Tauranga for the day. I specialize in a 7-hour tour to Rotorua, the Maori Culture capital of New Zealand and the centre of the Geo-Thermal region of NZ.
You will be met at the Port gates by your Maori driver/guide (that's me), in a mini van (minimum of two people and a maximum of only 11 passengers). If you have a larger group of friends travelling together we can accommodate, as I have access to a larger vehicles.
You will take a drive along the waterfront of Pilot Bay Mount Maunganui, then along the picturesque Marine Parade, Mount Maunganui's surf beach with its many luxurious homes.
You will stop for a walk on Papamoa Beach, paddle in the water or talk to the fishermen on the beach, or you can gather sea shells.
You will continue your tour to Rotorua where you will visit the Rotorua lakefront for a great photo opportunity and take a walk through the Government Gardens.
You will go to Te Puia, the Maori Cultural Centre, where I will guide you every step of the way, explaining the meaning of the Maori carvings, Maori Protocol, history, myths, legends and beliefs. You will also go to a Maori cultural performance experiencing the traditional challenge, plus song and dance including the fearsome Haka or posture dance, plus you will visit the carving and weaving schools on site where you will be able to watch the students at work.
You may like to purchase some lunch (at your own expense) from Pohutu Cafe on site. You could try a traditional Hangi meal which is cooked in the traditional way a hole in the ground; these are big enough for two to share.
We will guide you down into the geo-thermal valley to see the boiling mud pools, and steaming geysers erupting up to 30-metres in the air. Pohutu geyser is a Natural geyser unlike the Lady Knox geyser where soap powder is inserted to make it erupt, which is how they know it will erupt at 10:15am everyday.
We will guide you through a Kiwi House where you will see our National bird, the flightless and endangered Kiwi Bird.
Because I am Maori, an Indigenous New Zealander, you can be sure that the stories of our people and our culture are genuine, plus you will hear about New Zealand history from both a Maori and non-Maori perspective.
You will return to your ship via a different route to which you traveled on your way to Rotorua, thereby offering you different scenery for your return journey. Plus we will drive you through Tauranga City on your way back to your ship.
I am a tour guide not just a bus or taxi drivers, so I will guide you around the sites, not just drop you off at the gate to find your own way around, unless that is what you want. You will be looked after every step of your tour.
Your vehicle and I are fully licensed to carry paying passengers, plus Archer Tours is a member of Tourism New Zealand.
This fully guided tour, costs NZ$180.00 per person which includes the $71.00 entry fee into Te Puia, so there are no entry fee surprises when you get to Rotorua. You can be sure of a wonderful, fun filled, informative day with Archer Tours.
Compare this to your ship's prices for similar tours, plus you won't be on a coach with 50 other people.
I guarantee to get you back to your ship well before your sailing time.
Cruise Ship Shore Excursion from the Port of Auckland
For only NZ$150 per person, let us take you on a 5-hour sightseeing tour of Auckland City where the big coaches can't go. We will pick you up from your ships side at 9:30am and drop you off there around at 3pm. This will vary depending on your ships arrival time and departure time.
We will take a drive through Cornwall Park, then on to Newmarket and the Auckland Domain, stopping for a visit at the extraordinary Winter Gardens. You will take a drive down Queen Street, the main shopping street of the city centre, then over the Auckland Harbour Bridge to Devonport Village. You will have time to stroll around the streets of this quaint little village and to purchase some lunch if you wish. Your tour will continue back into the city and along beautiful Tamaki Drive, past some of the best residential locations in Auckland, then on to Mission Bay. You will stop at the Achilles Point Lookout then return along Tamaki Drive to visit the Michael Josef Savage Memorial Gardens for more fantastic views into the City before returning to your ship around 3pm, or to your hotel or International airport for your onward journey.
If you have only one day in our largest city then this tour will give you a relaxed overview, visiting the best vantage points over the city, with a little time for some retail therapy and lunch at one of the many lovely cafes in Devonport.
If your cruise finishes in Auckland we can take you on this Auckland City tour and drop you off at your hotel in Auckland, or drop you off at the Auckland International Airport at the end of your tour, for the same price of NZ$150 per person. Just let me know when you make your booking so I know to bring a luggage trailer with me.
Unfortunately we can no longer go up Mount Eden or Mount Victoria as it is now closed to traffic, so we end our tour at the Michael Joseph Savage Memorial instead, which is another great look-out point and garden.
I invite you to read the reviews I have received from past passengers on Trip Advisor or Cruise Critic.
